Kalon Tripa to be known as Sechieong from today

As known, Chinese officials and Tibetans in exile have been engaged in talks to resolve issue of Tibet for last some time and both sides have conducted nine rounds of talks ending into no results, distrust and limitations due to policies being adopted by both sides.

Today, Tibetan parliament in exile amended Tibetan charter and decided that Tibetetan government in exile would not have Kalon Tripa anymore. Instead, Tibetan government in exile would be headed by Secheong that means political leader.

Discussing the possible impact of proposed amendment some of the members said removing word Kalon Tripa would mean moving away from the sentiments of Tibetan people as they have elected and voted for Kalon Tripa that means Prime Minister in Tibetan language.

However, members of Khashag were successful in convincing the members of exile parliament that change in charter would not have any impact as secheong would perform same duties as performed by Kalon Tripa.

Students for free Tibet to enhance pressure on International community to intervene on Tibet.

As known, Tibet has been witnessing heavy deployment of security forces to strengthen Chinese control on Tibet and this heavy security deployment has resulted into wide spread security crack downs on innocent Tibetans inside Tibet and also resulting into unfortunate wave self -immolations inside Tibet making situation inside Tibet very critical.

Tibetan community in exile has taken various steps not only to express solidarity with Tibetans inside Tibet. But, also to, highlight Chinese illegal control and highhandedness inside Tibet. Tibetan parliament in exile has started a flame of truth campaign on international level to highlight Chinese highhandedness inside Tibet. Tibetan Youth Congress has started indefinite hunger strike to make international community aware about the ongoing wave of self- immolations inside Tibet.

Basically, Tibetan community in exile has been trying to push international community to intervene on the issue of Tibet.

Students for free Tibet feel that it is moral and natural responsibility of international community to come in solidarity with Tibetans. Students For Free Tibet also told that the organization has successfully formed a Tibet support and contact group that comprises of parliament members from various countries including US congressional members.

Students for Free Tibet have also urged governments of various countries to raise issue of Tibet in their interactions with Chinese officials. SFT sources also told that SFT has also asked Mr. S.M.Krishna, Minister of External Affairs, and Government of India to raise issue of Tibet in his interactions with international dignitaries.

Students for free Tibet feels that recent cases of rumors to create differences between Buddhists and Muslims in India are handy work of some opportunist people who are ignorant about facts stating coexistence of both communities for last many centuries.

Students for Free Tibet also feel that Tibetans engaged in freedom struggle should not get carried away by such incidences and continue to work for Tibetan freedom.

Indefinite Hunger strike of Tibetan Youth Congress continues on 14th day

As known, Tibetan Youth Congress has started indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi and the hunger strike has been getting significant support from Tibetans in exile in general and young exile Tibetans in particular.
“Tibetan Youth Congress has filed three of its most senior members Vice President Dhundup Lahdar, Organizational secretary Penpa Tsering and cultural secretary Jigme Sholpa for this strike and entering of strike into 14th day shows how determined are Tibetan Youth Congress members and leaders for the cause of Tibet” says Tenzin Norsang, Joint Secretary Tibetan Youth Congress .
“The indefinite hunger strike is not only against Chinese repression on Tibetan Culture, Language and Tibetan identity inside Tibet. But, this strike of Tibetan Youth Congress senior members is also to remind international community to stick to its assurances and promises it has made to Tibetan Youth Congress during earlier held hunger strikes this year and last year. Unfortunately, international community has not been able to either pressurize Chinese regime nor it has been able to keep promises that it made to young Tibetans in past” Tenzin Norsang said.
